CENTRAL TEXAS VETERINARY OPHTHALMOLOGYCentral Texas Veterinary Ophthalmology was established in 2000 in Austin to provide specialty ophthalmic care for animals in Texas. Our doctors have many years of experience in veterinary ophthalmic practice. Our technical staff have worked in both general and ophthalmic practice and are Registered Veterinary Technicians. He then spent 3 years at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida with Dr. Kirk Gelatt and completed a residency in comparative ophthalmology. Dr. Millichamp completed the certification examinations of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 1985 and the Diploma of Veterinary Ophthalmology examination of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1986. He was elected as a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2004. Dr. Millichamp has been a staff ophthalmologist at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and faculty member in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Studies at Texas A&M University since 1986. His clinical and research interests focus on ocular surgery, particularly glaucoma, retinal and eyelid surgery, cataract surgery in horses, ophthalmic telemedicine and imaging, and ocular disease in exotic species. Dr. Millichamp has participated in various official activities with the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in the past 20 years. He is married to Dr. Joan Dziezyc and has two teenage daughters and several animals. His interests include music, photography, swimming and herpetology. Dr. Joan Dziezyc
Dr. Dziezyc worked in ophthalmic specialty practice at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida, and private specialty practice in New England before joining the faculty of the Department of Small Animal Clinical Studies at Texas A&M University in 1986 and working as a staff ophthalmologist at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Dr. Dziezyc was president of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2001 and has been active on various committees of the organization. Her clinical and research interests focus on ophthalmic surgery and cataract surgery in horses, intraocular lens development in human ophthalmology and vision in horses. She is married to Dr. Nick Millichamp with whom she shares the daughters and pets. Joan has a Welsh Cobb that she rides and is teaching to pull a cart. Her other interests outside of work include bird watching, dog agility, needlepoint and trying to keep orchids alive. Johanna Andersen
